My clinical foundations are built on education and experience. I earned an MSSW and a Doctor of Social Work degree from the University of Tennessee and have trained and worked extensively with a range of Cognitive Behavioral treatments for anxiety and depression. Prior to launching BalancePoint Counseling I served as a psychotherapist for Metropolitan Counseling Services in Atlanta and at Blount Memorial Hospital's Counseling and Concern here in Maryville. I co-chair the Mental Health Awareness and Suicide Prevention Alliance in Blount County and also serve as an adjunct faculty member at the University of Tennessee College of Social Work in Knoxville.
My professional philosophy is rooted in the belief that a strong alliance between a therapist and a client is the basis for moving forward with the journey of recovery. I am committed to listening deeply and respectfully to each person as we look for better ways to live.
